Born in Connecticut, Christy Turlington was discovered at the age of 14 by a photographer while horseback riding. She was signed to a small agency, although she did not pursue modeling full time until after she graduated from high school, at which point she moved to New York City. She was known as one of the members of the so-called "trinity" along with Linda Evangelista and Naomi Campbell, so named because influential photographer Steven Meisel often booked them together. Her career was hugely successful as she became the face of numerous brands both high-end and commercial. She has also appeared on more than 500 magazine covers worldwide. Outside of modeling, she has pursued a degree at NYU with concentrations in comparative religion and Eastern philosophy. More recently, she has expanded to become involved in several business ventures including two clothing lines and a skincare line. She has two children with her husband Ed Burns.
